    Attn computer nerds..need advice

I have a hp desktop that blows..it will randomly give me no hard drive notice and is currently locked up.
Last time I just unplugged hard drive and plugged back in and it worked.
I'm hoping this will work again long enough so I can do a backup but here's my question. .

Can I pull info off hard drive if I can't get computer to turn back on?

And what new computer should I get..Mac or dell...mainly only used for quick books and searching Internet...never had a mac

If hard drive isn't blown then you can transfer data. Make sure your pins aren't bent at the connection point. Get a large USB stick or back up to Google once back up. It's actually easier to restore files from USB than Google. Dell all the way but in all fairness I work for Dell.

Now I just need to know what computer to get...

You'd be looking for a desktop replacement laptop. They can be pricey.

If it's just QuickBooks and internet surfing check out best buys ad. I picked up an Inspiron 3000 with 7th gen i3 processor, 6 gb ram and 1tb HDD. Plenty if that's all you're gonna be doing.

Agree on above. Todays computing power have outpaced the basic use needs.

There are laptops with docking station, if that's what you're asking about.

Ah yeah you should be able to network them together and use files off the other one when on the road and connected to the internet.

Than get a laptop with a docking station. Docking station will allow you to connect multiple monitors, real mouse, keyboard, printer. When you want to take it with you disconnect one wire and go.

If you are just surfing and running quick books get a Mac. They cost more but at least for now the virus folks don't spend their time on the Mac OS since how it works is so different from Windows based stuff. All of our stuff at home is Mac. We only have Windows ag the office because so many of our engineering programs don't have Mac versions and we don't want to mess with parallels.
