I’ve stuck it back in the cooler in a bag on ice, but never just put cubes on the meat. I was just curious if you mixed it into the sausage for some reason.

when I started the meat was semi frozen. the ice I put on top in the cooler had actually stuck together and come off in big chunks. Bison cooler by the way. the little bit of extra moisture doesn't hurt.
