    deer pics

How about some deer pics? Not much deer hunting stuff at the campfire. Can't post pics of the BIG deer, but here's some pics of deer that might interest me next year on the Junco.

Pot Belly Pig. 6 1/2. Probably biggest body on a deer I've ever laid eyes on. He and I have a history. There are other deer that I can hunt next year that will be bigger antlerwise, but it'll be hard for me not to hunt this dude. He doesn't show himself much, but I think I know where to set up to kill him if I decide to.

This is the Weedeater buck. He's WIDE and has LONG beams. typical 11 with a kicker. He's broken here. He has short tines and light mass, but did I say he's WIDE. He's a protein hound now and hopefully that'll translate into more mass. I'll be looking for him during the growing season. I LIKE'EM wide.

This is my no. 1 candidate next year. I hunted him early, but he broke a brow and a split on the other brow. It gave him another year. He's a protein hound and undoubtably unpopular with the other deer. NONE of them like him and he doesn't like them. He shows himself less than the Pot Belly Pig. He's only been seen by 3 of us, other than pics. As long as he doesn't get TOO much bigger, I'll be after him when the season starts. I had hoped he's show during daylight at the protein feeder, but he broke early and I gave up. Next year, I'll be more aggressive with him and move into the big block of brush where I think he spends most of his time.

He showed up at my Wednesday blind late in the season and I thought it would move Wednesday out of the area, but it didn't. I'll keep an eye on my cameras this year and try and pin him down.

Here are pics. The "in tact" pics are early in the year.

I'm going back to the Junco one more time. Going to top off protein, kill some hogs and coons, maybe a doe or two and maybe a cull if I see one. THEN it's turkey time in San Angelo after a month of rest. THEN it's axis time. We'll start axis hunting May 23rd this year, I think and it goes for 8 weeks. Going to be hard to spread it out over 12 weeks. THEN after a month and a half, it's dove season again. Does it ever end?

bad past year on our place, pretty much doe only nightime pics and gone during the season, we got a mgmt buck and a couple of does and several pigs as usual. No trophies this year.
                    Good luck!

These two bucks are AJ and Elk. They were 1 and 2 on my list before the season. I could have cried when I saw these TC pics. Both had screwed up their right sides. They each got a pass. Both will be 7 1/2 next year. I've never killed a high beam buck like elk and AJ is a heavy horned deer. I posted pics of them before the season showing how they looked last year. I'm hoping they revert back to their former selves this year.
