    Artifact Experts Opinion

My dad and I found these many years ago in East Texas. I would like feedback especially on the large one. Thanks in advance.

Big one looks like a smoothing stone. GarGuy should chime in shortly. He is an extreme expert and can tell you exactly what it is and from what era. Cool finds!

Thanks. I was a very young kid when we found it. I called it a tomahawk back then but it is too thick and not sharp enough for that. I know I would not want to get hit in the head with it.

The large piece, from what I have read many times, is a tomahawk head. What is bad, I found two of them and knew the grooves were done by a human, but assumed it was done in recent times and tossed them right back on the ground.

We found these in a freshly plowed field in northeast Texas. There was a bunch of broken pottery, bone and clam shell fragments. My dad felt like it was either a camp or a burial ground. We would have never seen it if the field had not just been plowed. The shell caught our eye. The pottery fragments had intricate patterns on them. This was on a hill near a small river.

                Thanks for any feedback.

That is called a celt. Which is actually a tomahawk. Nice one!

                          It's a grooved ax.
Full grooved if it looks the same on other side.

I don’t see a bannerstone in either of the pics.
