Can you post a link to news on this? I visit Cozumel at least 2x a year the last few years and I feel safer there than I do in downtown Houston or San Antonio. The mainland is a different story and I have pretty much quit going to Playa or Akumal for that reason.

Belize would be my choice. Affordable, beautiful and safe.

I would travel to several places in Mexico before I went to some big cities in the States.
Just got back from Puerto Vallarta yesterday. Travelled all over the city and never felt in danger.

Why does everyone always say the "never felt in danger" in Mexico? I'm sure if the people that were executed "felt in danger" they would not have been there either.

I know that's not helpful to the thread just bored this morning and always found that to be an odd thing to say. It's like saying "I've been snow skiing many times and never broken my leg once". Ummm, you never break your leg until you do and in the case of Mexico chances are if you ever feel in danger you won't be here to write about it.

Carry on....

Why do people say don't go to Mexico cause of this or that. There is a shooting with a couple hours of my house every night. I still come to work and do what I want to do...and most people that say don't go there, have never been. We've been all over the Caribbean's and never had any trouble, but my car has been broke into at my house several times.

Carry on...

Maybe because the entire country is corrupt? Thereís no arguing that is there? I never said donít go there. Do what you want. I just think itís odd to say youíve never felt unsafe there. You wonít until itís too late.

True, but that is also literally true for anywhere. Including your own home.

I was going to respond about the misinformed Mexico statements but I'm not. With your budget Turks and Caicos or Bahamas would be great places. I would avoid Jamaica and I didn't care for Grand Cayman myself. I wouldn't hesitate for a second on going to Cozumel, been there at least 20 times never an issue but I don't go to bars late at night or buy drugs.

Considering the same . We’re thinking about trying Puerto Rico - seen and heard tales that many parts are back up and running and your dollar really helps out their efforts ..

We went to Punta Cana last year, it was ok, cant say I would recommend it to anyone though. Locals seemed extremely rude compared to Mexico.

Did It last year. Best vacation Iíve ever done, next to Alaska. Love that place!!!! Only advice I have for you is get the helicopter ride instead of the shuttle! Pay the extra money. The trip from the airport is over an hour long and your driver will think he is Kyle Busch. He will take the corners blind and will miss pedestrians by inches. Pop Xanex or make him stop to get booze because It is intense with the mountains and curves...Wears you out.... the sushi bar is awesome so is the piano bar. Have any other questions give me a shout.

I used a travel agent but I kind of played with the dates on the sandals website, to find the best price. Apparently sandals has fixed prices, canít really find a better deal anywhere beside flights etc. once I found the best dates o asked the agent what he can do and he got me a earlier flight for only like 100$ more

We went to St Lucia in March. Personally, I thought the road/car travel was a great part of the experience. We rented a vehicle and thoroughly enjoyed traveling around the island. One of the best parts of the trip for us.

Punta Cana and go all inclusive.

Beautiful beaches and the island is large enough to offer plenty of land excursions if you get tired of laying on the beach!

One of the best beach vacations we have ever taken!
