I went through something similar. I thought I was dying too. I felt so tired all the time and I was forgetting everything. I also had a bunch of anxiety. My doc told me it was nothing. This continued for about a year and changed docs and the first thing they tested was my thyroid. Found out immediately I had hypothyroidism. Took a while to get my dosage right but I take Armour thyroid and I am back to normal. Tell her to stay away from the internet, it scared the crap out of me. If she has hyper/hypo they will get it uner control. You can pm me if you have questions

My Mom and all the women on her side of the family had thyroid problems. My Mom's sisters, my sisters and female cousins had problems as well, twenty some odd total. Some had to have them removed but all are on medication. None have died of cancer.
