Default Daughterís friend is a vegetarian

My 10 year old daughter is having a couple of friends spend the night tonight for her birthday. One of them is a vegetarian, so I got all the deer meat out from this past season to thaw and grind tomorrow. Iíve been needing to do it, so I figured this was as good a time as any.

That's awesome. You'll show that.....that...... 10yr old little girl.:roll eyes:

Why not just get her some kale or bean sprouts or whatever the hell they eat, be respectful of her choice, be a gracious host and not pick on a little girl? There's a concept.

I'm sorry but I agree with Curt, she's 10 years old for Christ sake. Hell my wife thinks she's vegan until she eats backstrap

Good grief, guys. I’m just making a joke. It won’t even be thawed out before she leaves tomorrow. She won’t be here for the fun. I’m having to bite my tongue around her, so I thought I could make a joke on here...guess I was wrong.

Sorry. I didn't realize it was a joke. As a joke, it's funny as hell. I thought you were serious. Probably the lack of tone on these threads or the non-use of emojis in your original post. Either way, I doubt that if you'd host your daughters friends that you would do anything to upset them or her. Hope y'all have a great day.

She’s 10, and already a vegetarian?? Man, I’m out of touch with reality I guess. Many thoughts running through my head, and probably can’t articulate that in words that make sense. Just seems wrong to me. She’s not old enough to understand why people are vegetarians in the first place I guess, just hasn’t had enough knowledge or experience to understand why she’s doing it. Seems like something is being projected on her by her parents. I mean dang, let kids be kids for a while until they are old enough to form their own educated opinions.

Not trying to be confrontational, just surprised that a 10 yr old already has opinions and beliefs based on stuff they have know real knowledge or education about.

Just read your other post. Again, not trying to call you out or anything, it was more of a social observation about the current times in general, not your situation.

Respect her wishes, have a good time. But I would eat a big ole ribeye in front of her haha!

I've thought about this before and maybe she just doesn't like meat. Some people just don't like certain foods with no explanation as to "why". I have a daughter that doesn't like cheese. Neither she nor we know why nor understand why the mere smell of cheese makes her sick. From the time she was a toddler to today, at the age of 13, if it has cheese, she's scraping it off or sending it back.

I highly recommend serving lentils for supper and Uncle Sam flaxseed cereal for breakfast
With a side of deer sausage breakfast tacos " cheese optional "

My 16 year old daughter has been a vegan for 2 years. She probably has more bow kills than most of the expert posters on this site. It's all about respect. She asks me about my hunting trips. I ask her about her tasty vegan pizza. 'Merica.

The thread is already kinda weird but hope the parents are supplementing...my girl has never eaten red meat & we had to up her iron. I would sorta be weirded out if she didn't do fish & chicken.

Sorry op I dig this was really meant to be light hearted...10yr veggie only?? We had a bone in ribeye tonite

I went on a pescatarian eating plan for about 6 months. Lots of benefits. Don’t knock it until you try it. I know you were joking but try cooking a veggie lasagna- I prefer it now to meat and dairy based. I have a feeling most on here as well as 99% of Americans could stand to change their eating

I'm pretty sure that 99% of Americans wouldn't change to that. I dated a hippie raw vegan, she ended up not being hot enough to make me buy into the "trend" of vegan.

My granddaughter is like this. Some stuff she just won't touch. She doesn't like cheese or bacon and just in the last year she started eating beef and pork. She used to practically live on chicken and vegetables. They were just what she liked and nothing more to it.

I don't mind a vegetarian meal on occasion. Some are pretty darn good. But my lifestyle requires bacon on occasion and some meat source almost daily.

I guarantee most vegans want to tell you how awesome they are for thier choices. It doesn't hurt if you tell them how you like your steak prepared .

oh look...what is that?

Thatís great and as an adult even better. You canít tell me a 10 year old in her growing years is lacking protein and other essential vitamins and nutrients form certain forms of meat.

My good friends son in 8 th grade looked like a ghost when he was tested for being sick. Doctor was not happy with mom and dad for not eating red meat and son not getting any. Had a major iron deficiency.

I guess everybody is different.
