I dunno. I have never had any deer meat that I didn't like, but I don't think I've killed anything older than 5. Hopefully I can let y'all know in October lol. There are some bigger deer on this property in terms of antlers, but this old deer is probably going to be my number one hit lister.

Good luck! Outsmarting an old buck like that is challenging and to me more of a trophy no matter the antler size. That dude does have some neat character. Hope to see some LDPs come September 30 or October! Shoot straight!

Well, in case anyone likes to see how these things finish out, this is what that old Lampasas buck ended up looking like on Opening Day. My buddy got a crack at him that evening, and ended the story for this old dude.

Pretty wore down. He's going to euro mount him, and we'll get a better look at them once he does that. I still think he's 6.5 or 7.5 personally. He looks skinny in this pic because he's actually gutted already, but he was a big old fat sucker.
