was blessed to give this one a ride back to Texas. hunted hard this year and was beginning to wonder if it was going to happen. this was the only Mature buck I saw this year, and I sat 60+ hours on the stand, one all day set. I shot him Saturday the 11th about 9am. he came by and took the wrong trail, I grunted, and snort wheezed at him several times to no avail. finally once he had walked out of sight, I grabbed the horns and banged around on them for a couple seconds (I did all that calling with a 1-1/2 yr old buck @ 20 yards looking right up at me, I cant believe he didn't blow the whole thing for me). he came boiling back out of the thicket ready to fight. I was able to stop him for a clean 30yrd broadside shot. he went about 80yrds and piled up.
