Default Things to do in Dallas

I'll be in Dallas 23-24th and I'm looking for a couple of things to do with the girlfriend. Places to eat and drink, sites to visit, attractions, etc.

Input is appreciated.

Do a Segway tour. I'm serious. I would have never done anything like that, but our 2nd daughter bought my wife and I a tour. We learned more about Dallas than we ever would have. They do one for downtown and one in the arts district. There are two different companies, but I think this is the one we used.

The list for places to eat or drink is about a mile long.

Where are you staying? Is there anything in particular you are looking to do? Do you have money burning a hole in your pocket or looking for relatively inexpensive fun? Is she high maintenance or relatively easy to please?

Dallas has a ton to offer and can be a lot of fun but I'm sure some of us can point you in the right direction with a little better idea of what you are looking to do.

I'm spending the week in Greenville for training/work then plan to get a hotel close to the center of Dallas during the weekend so the gf and I can get around more easily. We're not high maintenance, mostly laid back. Any unique bars/restaurants/attractions are appreciated.

#1 thing to do in Dallas is find a ride to Fort Worth. Amon Carter used to take a sack lunch when he went to Dallas for a meeting cause he said he'd never spend a dime there! True story!

In Greenville, TX? If so, you have to go to CB's hamburgers. My grandad used to take me there when I was a kid. Haven't been there in a long while, but they made some good hamburgers.

PM, me if you need a hotel in Dallas. I can help you out with all questions as can my staff. I am a lifelong Dallasite agree with the Ft Worth recommendations. Just know that is a very busy weekend in Dallas, so rates are pretty high.

Truckyard is good stuff if the weather is nice for drinks.

Klyde Warren Park is pretty dang cool as well just to hang out and mess around.

Trinity Groves is a good scene for food/dessert.

Adair's is a lot of fun for the evening.

Not far down the road is Cowboy Stadium, tours are kinda neat. There are numerous museums in Dallas and the Aquarium is neat. I don't think the Mavericks are in town but the Stars might be. Usually tons of concerts etc. If you like to gamble you can go to the WinStar just across the Oklahoma border, very large casino. Probably plenty of shows etc that weekend. I've stayed downtown numerous times with no issues at all. The Omni is very nice and there are plenty of others.

First things first, I would recommend looking at the hotel options ASAP as there is a national cheerleading competition going on this weekend at the convention center so a lot of hotels are booked!

Wasnít there a armed suspect shot by police just a night or so ago in Denton? Bad things happen everyday donít over think it or be scared. I have never been worried in either location.Plenty of cool things to do it just depends on what youíre looking for. Staying downtown would be a good idea and spend some time in both Dallas and Ft worth would be fun. Itís 30 minutes away as much as the Ft worth guys like to talk. Several good bars and restaurants listed above. Several cool spots on lower Greenville avenue as well. Again it depends on what youíre looking for. Uptown is a bit more uppity but good food, Greenville ave. is a little more low key with good food and bars. My preference personally.

Just another reason to just skip Dallas and head to Fort Worth instead! Seriously, either stay in Greenville or stay in Fort Worth. Can't imagine someone would CHOOSE to stay in Dallas!

Come on now, Dallas is an amazing city and not any less safe than any other major city in the state. There is certainly a lot more to do in Dallas than little ol' Ft Worth. While Ft. Worth has caught up in the last few years, the food options and night life aren't even comparable.

You can't go wrong with either city but you certainly shouldn't let any of these responses keep you from visiting Dallas for the weekend if that is what you want to do.

Yes it is. A lot of us were most likely giving the op a hard time about visiting Dallas. I was born here. The city is rougher and deadlier than its ever been. However there are some really cool places to see and visit. But donít hang out after dark. Just my opinion. So money restaurants and places to drink. If your staying in downtown eat at the pecan lodge. Check out a Stars or Mavs game. House of Blues Dallas aquarium Clive Warren Park lower Greenville is cool also bishop arts. Also if you want to tour Jerry world your about 20-30 minutes away.
