Anybody use round bales of coastal/alfalfa to feed axis/whitetail?

Been thinking of trying a round bale instead of square bales of alfalfa at my place... The axis will eat a square bale in one evening and I can't be there enough to keep it out for them... anybody tried it?

Never see any round bales of alfalfa. They do make big square bales 3'X3'X8' or 4'X4'X8'. I would think you would have to cover those bales to keep from spoiling.

We had a round bell once for our horses, mule deer and whitetail ate from it, they where also bedding in it too, from it all falling apart. that was the first and last time we used a big round bell though. Made a mess in our pens.

I have seen the large square bales of alfalfa... you are probably right about spoilage

I tried it once, just made a mess. That ate some of it.

Consensus sounds like it would be more of a mess than it's worth
