The utilities have been an absolute nightmare. I had to deal with 3 different people to get the water and sewer taps made. It took a month and a half to get the "correct" paper work completed. Each person told me the previous steps were done incorrectly and had to be redone. Finally a 3 way conference call got everyone to agree on what needed to be done.

Now power is an issue. I called and started that process a month ago. I got confirmation numbers, a field inspection and a phone call saying it will be completed within 3 weeks. I patiently wait my 3 weeks and call only to find out my account was canceled. No one could tell me why or who canceled it. So now we start over and I go back onto a 3 week waiting list.

Utilities have been horrible and by far the worst part of the build.

Caught a trout every other cast for 45 min straight. It was fun but they were all a bit short.

Thanks mace! Lord willing I will get the wires pulled, everything electrical hooked up and a water heater installed next weekend. IF that gets pulled off then a huge load will be lifted off of my shoulders.

I have to set the record straight. I chose an electrical provider, They dropped me and left me hanging for weeks. AEP (American electric power)is the installer. AEP found out what happened and saw my wait time, instead of an additional 3 week wait they got to it and hung my transformer in 1 week!!!! If all goes well the drop will be made to my power pole and meter set this week. AEP has been great about calling me and communication. They are also ahead of schedule. I couldn't be happier with them!!!

As far as the original provider goes.....they can go kick rocks.

Awesome little fish camp getaway. As others said, having the constant power for amenities like hot water will top it off. Good luck dealing with the utility companies!

Thanks guys!

I just got done loading the truck up. We leave tomorrow after work for a busy weekend. I swear one of these days I'm going to haul my boat down there and fish. Power still isn't hooked up but I have tons to do. I sure hope to post some major updates Sunday!

The shed hides and protects the sewer, water and electrical hook ups. It also holds my 38 gallon water heater.

Looks good but we are still waiting on power.

I called aep today for a status update. They said the pole was hooked up today and is all juiced up! I'm happy and nervous all at the same time. I've had such a rough go with utilities that I'm having trouble believing it until I see the lights on. The really nervous part is that I can't make it down till weekend of the 19th and that's to start a 9 day costal vacation. 9 days with electricity and hot water is awesome! 9 days without electricity and hot water is NOT awesome!

Thanks guys!!! We hit the water at 10:00am And loaded the boat at dark. My 2 youngest sons are with me and we boated over 20 fish. Only 4 of the trout were keepers though. I really have no idea what I'm doing on a bay in a boat but was very pleased to actually find fish. We will hit it again tomorrow, probably around the same time. Sleeping in is nice and there are still a ton of duck hunters in town. That gives them time to hunt and get outa "my" skinny water.

2 of those trout were supper tonight. That's about as fresh as it gets!

Wind was 10-20mph so I decided to dodge the bay and explore some back bayous. Sure was some good looking water but fishing was super slow. Boated 1/2 dozen fish with only 2 keepers. Biggest was 4ish pounds.

Once again, not a real impressive picture. It may take some time to figure all this new water out.

Fishing was terrible today. At least ftom the shore. The rest of the family made it down late so no boat rides today. Thanksgiving supper is a little different. We caught reds, trout, drum, catfish and crabs. We also cheated and bought lobster and shrimp. No turkey but still happy with out first costal thanksgiving.

Much better day! I learned a little about tactics and what to look for. It's kinda sad though. This was my best fishing day so far and tomorrow ends my 9 days on the coast. Back to reality and work! We boated 20 fish and found a few keepers.
