Default Bill Maher... mocks Harvey victimes

This dude has my nomination for chode of the year

Quote:
Maher said, “[T]hese places that got flooded, like Texas, okay, they have a low tax base. So, the federal government bails them out. Their governors, their legislators they don’t believe in climate science. It seems like the responsible folks in this country, the people who pay a little more taxes and the people who believe in climate change are bailing out the people who hate government, except when they need government when they’re in trouble. That seems a little unfair.”

He added, “Suddenly, socialism is not such a bad idea when you’re standing in toxic floodwater.”

Just read that. He needs to check out the help Cuban's get from their government verses the help Florida gets after Irma.
On his best day he is a fool.............

They have a low tax base, he **** sure isn't referencing the area I live or a whole lot of the areas I saw on television??? I live in Mont Belvieu then, I saw Kingwood, Humble, Katy, and a whole lot of other areas on TV with flooding. We are on the losing end of taxes, it's the hardcore liberals in Houston that are low tax base not us. We are the ones carrying the load.

What a moron. I don't know where that idiot is from, I guarantee you we are all a lot better off in Texas. From what I saw of everyone helping and rescuing folks I sure wouldnt want to see the outcome if it had happened anywhere else. There would have been a he'll of a lot of bodies to deal with that's for sure.

Well lets see. Bill Maher was born in New York and now lives in California. These states fiscal health rankings are:

New York: 39th out of 50
California: 43rd out of 50

Compared to Texas which is 23rd out of 50.

https://www.mercatus.org/statefiscalrankings

Texas Rainy Day Fund(Economic Stabilization Fund): $9.7B

New York Rainy Day Fund: $1.8B

California Rainy Day Fund: $1.15B

Several things wrong about Mayer's comments: comedy should have some basis in fact, and he is just plain wrong on his premises -- Bellaire, Kingwood, etc. are not low tax base zones; also, it's not socialism when volunteers are shoulder to shoulder with official responders. Finally: yes it's too soon to joke about people who lost everything due to a natural disaster.

He might be on to something:
Yes let's keep all our tax money here in the state we would be way ahead!
We subsidize many other states all the time that are full of idiots like him.

I absolutely abhor Bill Maher. His comment reminds me of a couple people who post on here from time to time.

Can we put Chuck Schumer on that airplane?

They may be affluent areas with high real estate value, but they are still low tax base compared to states he is referencing, New York and Cali.

2nd this is even original content, bs was being batted around on social media 48 hours after landfall.

I can't imagine Houston being handled much better than it was. Nice mix of public and private resources.

Doesn't every State pay the same Federal tax rates?

And if we're all pitching in (all States) of course they want money when it's their turn. That's how it's all set up. Doesn't mean some States don't want the system to change. Man that guy is so stupid. That's like saying I hate health insurance that I am forced to pay into but being called a hypocrite when I have to use it. Idiot.

The deal is, en mass, liberals don't give a crap when conservative States are affected by natural disasters. Katrina slammed the entire Gulf Coast and liberals focused on NOLA (a liberal city) which was botched by a liberal mayor. They didn't b*tch about Ike and Rita when they ripped SE Texas to shreds.

Now, when Sandy hit New Jersey.....stand back fellas cuz this was the worst thing since dinosaurs roamed the Earth. It was bad, no doubt but fat a*s Chris Christie is still trying to get political mileage from it while slamming Ted Cruz for wanting to do right by his constituents. If we all recall, liberals blamed the fact Katrina made it to hurricane status on the fact GW Bush was President.

They can mock us, they will hate us, but we know what we did after Harvey. They can't take that away from us, so let em run their mouths. They don't factor in anyway.
