Anybody ever have their place limed?

    You do aglime or pellets?
If ag did you get that Oklahoma stuff or the good texas stuff?

What did they charge for the lime?
    How much to spread it?

If you only had to do 2 to 5 acre mini plots how'd you do it?

    And ultimately...
    Did it work???

They only use Texas ag lime in East Texas they usually have a speader you can use. I forget the price per ton. You can pull it around with your truck. And of course it works that's why all the hay pastures around here use it.

It takes lime a long timer to enter in the soil and change to PH.

I would do a soil test to see what is needed instead of guessing.

I've had to lime 3 limes to get the PH in the range I wanted.

You should have the soil tested first. You might not need it

I had it done about fours ago. I think I paid around $350 for five tons. The company delivered it and spread it for that price. But first do the soil test like others have recommended.

Soul has been tested and I used Google before I came here

But since pretty much nobody is doing lime east of Tyler it's kinda hard.

Even called the East Texas co-op and they were of little help.
              Only two outfits carry it
              Georgetown or up in Oklahoma
That Georgetown stuff is more expensive but I've heard it's twice the quality

And I only need 20 acre hay field spread so folks aren't really wanting to get out of bed for that.

I'd hate having to buy pallets from tractor supply and getting all dusty

$30 a ton delivered from Oklahoma
$60 a ton to spread it
              So $90 total
              Minimum 25 tons
Georgetown is $60 a ton for their lime delivered or $5 if I pick it up myself

                Where are you located?
I haven't found anybody that will do less than a load (25 tons)

And why are they doing lime now?
Few places I called said they only spread fertilizer now and won't do lime until August/Sept

This is part of a ten year project and I don't expect to see results until year three
I'm going really heavy on the first two limings

I talked to my local fertilizer guy recently and he suggested another soil test.
He offers a complete detailed analysis for $5 and it takes less than a week.
I have had him lime it twice before with a big truck that spun it off the back.
I did it twice with a seeder spreader and that sux.

Call Lhoist in Nolanville. I’ve hauled it all over the state for them. Most feed stores in east Tx keep it on hand or will have it hauled in if they don’t.
