            bdp hunt...I dont even know. I felt stupid after shooting it not even knowing for sure if it was a bearded hen or tom. I guess I have never saw a good mature Tom with a red head and obvious difference. I guess I never will shooting Jakes last yr also

            I dont know to be honest with you. I guess that is a sad answer but I just gave up on figuring it out and assumed this was a young tom, he/she/it was a lot larger than the jakes I shot last yr.

                  It is for sure a hen. Luckly you are in a county it does not matter right now. Congrats on the soon to bee good eats.

                      Size wise it is hard for me to tell, but the coloration is why I asked. If it is a hen, that is one of the larger beards I have seen on a hen. Great trophy if you ask me. The only bearded hen I ever killed, I lost the beard cause a cat at the ranch ate half of it. Go figure. I am sure she/he will eat great chicken fried. Good luck the rest of the season.
