Still looking for a Keto friendly tortilla. Here is a recipe I stumbled on to. Has anybody used the recipe and if so how did the torts turn out??

Here is a pic, they look good. Link for the recipe is listed below.

Will be trying the recipe myself and will report on my results later. Keto on brothers and sisters!!

I found some low carb tortillas at Sprout's. They only have 6g per tortilla.

They tasted like a normal tortilla. Spout's Farmers Market is a store in Dallas and some surrounding areas.

there is also a subreddit or two for ketogenic eating, if you don't mind the whole internet hipster millenial thing.

reddit.com/r/keto and (if you're into lifting) reddit.com/r/ketogains

We buy ours at HEB...they are Carb-sense. They have the Mission brand and HEB has a house brand. Either are 3g net carbs. Even my kids have gotten to where they prefer these over the fresh butter flavored ones made on site.

Grilled adobo chicken with red enchilada sauce, green chilies, black olives, mozzarella and sharp cheddar.

Gonna drop a few mocha fat bombs for desert.

Made steak last night. 15 mins at 400 in a cast iron skillet in the oven, then 30 secs in the skillet for a nice sear. Garlic butter spread to finish things out.

Yea, all we use is the Carb-Sense tortillas. Went to the Mexican food restaurant last night. Got two grilled chicken breast covered in bell peppers, Mushrooms, and cheese. Of course avocados on the side. Had my wife smuggle in a couple of the 3 carb tortillas.

I tried the cactus and lime water, I mean Michelob ULTRA, last weekend. Not bad, but not really beer.

Awesome and thanks for sharing. That is roughly my starting point and target. I知 226 today after struggling for most of 2018 but set the whiskey aside and stayed strict the last couple of days. I can feel it kicking in again and know I知 about to drop down another pant size quickly. Been on mostly since July 18, 2017.

Interesting progress for me;

As I previously mentioned, I started eating a keto/paleo diet in mid-January and was struggling to see much progress in terms of the scale. I was feeling better, seemed to be losing some inches (or at least bloating), but wasn't seeing much on pee sticks that had me confident and the scale wasn't dropping much at all.

Well last weekend, my wife and I made a trip up to Arkansas to visit her sister. I wasn't feeling very good the first evening and ended up hugging the toilet a couple times that night. I chalked it up to food poisoning from a chick-fil-a salad I had grabbed on the drive (I know, food poisoning from anything chick fil a seems blasphemous). I was down for the count the next day, didn't even wake up until after 5pm.

Was a little off the rest of the weekend, but was able to eat regularly - though my appetite wasn't all that strong. Mainly focused on staying hydrated. Was worried I really cost myself progress at this point and the past month was for not.

Well since we got back on Sunday, I'm down about 7 lbs. Feeling good which is surprising as I'm working 15 hour+ days, and happy to see the numbers coming down. Really want to keep it going. All in all, from the heaviest I've ever been in January, I'm down ~17 lbs. Probably 8 or 9 of those coming after starting Keto.

Thought it was interesting. I don't think it was "keto flu" since I haven't heard of it actually making people sick...but I guess you never know. It may have just jump started something. Gonna be doing everything I can to keep the train rolling.

Anyone here have experience with exogenous ketones? I know it's just putting outside ketones in front of your own but when I cheat a little, it can take me several days to get back to pink pee sticks which is a problem because I also feel crappy until I'm back full bore. Wondering if the ketone drinks might help with all that.

I'm going to buy some when Vitamin Shoppe gets them back in stock. I'm on the border with them. They are expensive but what the Hades.

Thomas D. had a good video explanation of them I saw on FB the other night. Definitely not enough conclusive studies done yet and he said "may" induce a kickstart type effect and "may" help with keto flu which is why I'm hoping somebody here has some real experience. Yes, they are expensive and this whole way of eating is expensive (but worth it).

He did say it's definitely instant brain energy.

I'm with you on the cheat day and help kick start ketosis up again. Instant brain food, well, IDK about that. Fuel for the brain I see but if he is saying it will increase your cognitive ability then, that I'm crying shenanigans. I took 1 dose 2 days ago, given to me by a friend, and I didn't really notice any improvement. Yes, my pee stick was a little darker but that's to be expected when you take in exogenous ketones. At what point is their a placebo effect to taking supplements? If you expect it to work, then the power of suggestion can be strong.

Goodybeats and Jason Whitrock did pre and post finger stick ketone levels and it did almost double, if not actually doubled, their ketone levels. But, they are both already fat adapted.

Rhonda Patrick tested some ketone ester (not salt) in liquid form a couple of months ago. The ate a high-carb meal and then raised ketone level from .2mm to 4.5mm within an hour. That's a pretty serious increase!

Those exogenous ketones will do that. But what's the point if you're eating a high carb meal. I understand taking them will help get you fat adapted quicker. I also heard, they help boost fat burning. I'll be buying some, as soon as Vitamin Shoppe gets them back in stock.

My wife and I decided to give this Keto thing a try, at least for a month. I'm not sure it's the "right" plan for me (or ultimately for her), but she's wanting to kick start her weight loss and, hopefully, reduce some of the pain in her back and knees. We decided that we'll attempt Keto until the end of March and then adjust from there, if needed, as I'm not sure it's sustainable for us. I intend to start working out to gain strength and endurance, so I'm not sure how my body will respond on a high fat diet. I will likely transition, at some point, to a higher protein, "clean" eating plan. We'll see.

We kind of jumped right into this yesterday, so I'm a little anxious about the "keto flu." I have plenty of pickle juice and water on hand for the next week, or so! We started simple with what we already had at the house. I researched a bit yesterday, scrolling through this thread and checking a few referenced links. I also have a buddy that has been on Keto for over a year (primarily to help with his Lyme's disease).

I'll follow along with this thread and try to search previous posts for answers, but I'm curious what supplements y'all might take and what macro % adjustments y'all might make when you workout vs when you don't. Any other quick tips are appreciated, as well.

The wife and I also started this Monday. I had a small headache start yesterday and continue into today, so I'm hoping that means I'm doing it right and my body is transitioning.

I typically eat my last meal around 7 pm and then eat again at 12-12:30pm. When I started I only ate two meals a day, but I found that I wasn't as strong during my lifts in the afternoon so I have started to eat an hour or so before my workout. Typically 8-12oz of meat.

I haven't taken exogenous ketons, but I know they have helped a lot of people get back into ketosis. The first 3 days sucked for me, but once your body becomes adapted hunger hasn't been an issue for me.

We decided that we'll attempt Keto until the end of March and then adjust from there, if needed, as I'm not sure it's sustainable for us.

To avoid the keto flu you need to make sure your hydrated and drink half your body weight in ounces each day, increase salt intake and meet your daily macros. I've been on it for a month now and have shed 22lbs and never experienced any issues with the keto flu doing the above. I do use a app carbsense to help track macros and also read Keto Diet by Leanne Vogel.

I'm down 26 in the last five weeks, with two cracked ribs and no gym time.

Small indiscretion last night - 3 fingers of buffalo trace led me to eating 2 wasa crackers. (yes, sadly that is the only non-vegetable carb in my house currently)
So I was just barely turning the strip pink this morning. Did a shot of the ketone powder stuff (tasted about like doing alkaseltzer) and drove on to work. Tested dark purple an hour later as expected. Had my normal keto coffee this morning, avocado mid-morning snack and some chicken with spinach for lunch. Feel pretty good so far.

x2 hydration is key

carbs hold water that's why when folks go low carb they see that quick loss. Its the water weight. When you are dehydrated your body still needs water to metabolize and it will pull from your entire body even the brain. see link on dehydration headaches. This also why we get hangover headaches.

Welcome to the Keto Family. As you stated, this thread has lots of good info in it. Tips for avoiding the Keto flu. I've never had it. I take Magnesium Citrate supplements twice a day. 1 tab in the am and 2 tabs pm. Each tab is 250 mg. Sometimes I do 2 and 2. I drink Knorr chicken broth daily for extra sodium, pink Himalayan Salt on all my food. Don't be afraid of the salt. An avocado daily for good source of fats and potassium.

Current macro's are 70% fat 25% protein and 5% carbs. I actually do a little less on the carbs. Also it is net carbs. Fiber content does not count.

Drink lots of water as your body will not have any carbs to keep it in. justintyme8303 covered it and put it well. Some say artificial sweeteners will kick you of ketosis but I believe that's on personal basis so, keep them eliminated until you find out how they affect you.

Some helpful youtuber's are Thomas DeLauer, Goodybeats, Jason Whitrock, Keto Connect and a ton others. I like Headbangers Kitchen for recipes.

Edit...I also take Controlled Labs Orange Triad and Fish Oil. Hyde is my preworkout of choice. I also drink a Powerade Zero daily. Tumeric in my chicken broth helps with inflammation. You will find that keto will naturally raise your test levels and ward of inflammation. Traditional clean diets, low in fat, tank your test levels.
