Looking for Pheasant, Quail hunt around Elkhart, KS

Any suggestions wanting to take my father in law after Christmas while we are in Ruidoso, New Mexico.

Pheasant, Quail, Waterfowl within 7 hour drive?

I do some waterfowl hunting in Kansas but not that far west. I do know that Kansas has quite a bit of walk in land that is available for upland bird hunting but I am not sure the bird populations in that area. If you are interests in the walk in areas you can find them on the kpwd website. Also if you were willing to travel a little bit further Cheyenne Bottoms is known for waterfowl hunting and it is public. Or depending on dates I can get you a number for a guide that I know around Great Bend/Hoisington area. Sorry I wasn't much help!
