I have a couple of small places. I few years ago I found a small place that is bordered on 3 sides by thousands of acres of national forest. I am in the process of building a barndo on it now. I intend to put it into a trust that will be the family retreat and recreation area long past my time.
It was an auction and I made sure that I got it, but it is worth way more now and it is my ag/forestry/wildlife/outdoor learning lab now that I am retired. I am getting to work with the land and teach my grandkids about things they won't learn in school.

I got lucky and married into it. Its family land, but we live on 50 acres in Walker county. Decent deer herd and several hogs.

My goal one day is to buy my own 100 or so acres strictly for recreation. The place we live on now is growing into too big of a farming/cattle operation and it is severely hurting the hunting.
