Laguna Atascosa Archery Deer

I know many of y'all are way more familiar with the refuge than me, given I have never stepped foot on it. But an area that big I would have to assume there is game in every unit and the perception that there are more in 6 and 8 is based on greater harvest numbers. And large harvest numbers could be attributed to the fact that there are more hunters in those units due to the additional effort required to reach spots in 2 and 3...Just my thoughts from a distance. It seems a lot of past year hunt threads indicate most people stayed close to the roads in 8. Anyone care to comment?

I hunted 8 and 5 during the first Nilgai hunt. I didn't see many deer. Most I heard of were up in area 3 but way north.

Another thing I noticed on the deer that I saw hunting Nilgai is they seemed to move in the early afternoon around lunch

There's lots of deer out there. Pick a spot with sign, rubs, trails, sit all day and be patient. After the first couple days, hunting gets harder with all the human pressure. But I've had shots and taken deer the last day too.
