"So who are these people on TBH anyway?"

Note: I first posted this over 7 years ago - I thought I'd bring it back up for old times sake...

My wife tolerates my Green Screen habit without too much complaint - but looking over my shoulder the other night she said " I know you must get a lot out of being on there, but really, who are those people?"
I thought about it, and said:

Well, there’s men, women, girls and boys,
With fortunes invested in outdoor toys
We got country boys and city slickers,
Big buck slayers and wild pig stickers.

    We got sinners and saints,
    blowhards and liars,
Tales of adventure around a virtual campfire.
It's compounds, crossbows and fans of trad
Passing down skills we learned from our dads.

Do TBHrs have money? Depends who you ask!
The “good stuff” or rot-gut may be in their flask.
    There’s guys who’ll drop 20 grand for a trip,
And guys who have to settle for bargain-brand dip

White collar, blue collar - they’re all the same here,
We don’t judge a man by the brand of his beer.
We got fat guys and beanpoles and folks of all races
But we all look the same with camo paint on our faces.

High fence, low fence and no fence at all,
Toss out an opinion and wait for the brawl!
Fights over broadheads - fixed or mechanical,
Infractions from mods (who are sometimes tyrannical.)
Some broad-minded members and others quite narrow,
But we’re all brought together by the flight of the arrow.

We got believers and skeptics and mad Bible thumpers,
Doctors and salesmen and oilfield pumpers.
Rich guys and poor guys and middle class hicks,
But mostly we’re just hunters who like to fling sticks
    .

There’s quite a few women who frequent the site,
(I think their influence helps keep us polite.)
It’s “ Lost my job!” or “Dog got sprayed by a skunk!”
And weird threads by guys who must be posting while drunk.

A community? A family? Don’t know what you’d call it
But if a need arises these folks open their wallets.
The death of a loved one, bad news from the doc,
Hundreds of prayers from the TBH flock.

So who are these people, you want me to explain?
Aren’t the minutes you spend there just time down the drain?
That argument’s easily made I would guess,
But I don’t believe it - not deep in my chest.

Just a bowhunter’s site? You must understand
It’s the state’s finest people (even some who’ve been banned!)
We’re all bound together by our love of the bow,
Irresistibly drawn to the screen’s green glow.

So call me an addict – this place won’t make you wealthy
But with members like these, it’s an addiction that’s healthy!

"There, that clear it up for you?"

Back then, Shane put my words to music and made quite a song out of it. I will find it and see if the link still works.
