    Feeder Build Question

I am going to hang feeders between two trees, use a winch to raise and lower it. I plan to use 1/4" wire rope on the winch.

My question is, will 1/4" wire rope work between the trees?

I was thinking about using chain but wire rope will be much less expensive and easer to work with in the field.

If anyone has pictures of there hanging feeders it would be great too.

Wire rope will dig in and grow into a tree. If you are going to use wire rope, wrap the trees with 3" nylon webbing like a semi truck ratchet strap. Then use wire rope to secure to the webbing

It will hold it! If worried about the tree, just loosen cable after the season.

The wire has a wt rating labeled on the spool. Check it out before you purchase. 1/4" should be plenty.

I agree with others that the wire will dig into the tree and the trunk will heal and grow around it.
