It can seem like a matter of religion around here, but on paper and practice 6.5 Grendel does have the edge for deer in the AR-15 in longer barrels.

6.8 SPC is also good, especially in short barrels inside 200 yds.

300BLK is a good short range brush gun, particularly if you have an NFA stamp.

After seeing how the 6.5 Grendel performed on deer, it will be my next rifle.

          300 BLK, 6.5 Grendel, or a 6.8 SPC.

This is what I’ve been told and what I’m reading so I narrowed it down to these 3. Now to make the decision what do y’all think

How far you plan on shooting? That’s the deciding factor

For me, 200 and in 6.8 over that 6.5

I did prefer the performance of the fusion to my current pill, I plan on switching back soon.

300 and in ballistically the 6.5 & 6.8 are nearly identical ballistically.

But why limit yourself if you decide you want to shoot longer? I’ve owned both and never saw the hype for the 6.8. I sold the 6.8 and kept the Grendel.

this is what I have used... My ARP 6.8 upper is my go to rifle for deer size game animals... When we had our place out west, I carried it to the stand each time I bow hunted in case I put a bad hit on something and got the opportunity to make a quick follow up shot that was out of bow range... only did that once, but that 6.8 sure is a lot lighter than my Armalite AR-10T... That sucker is a tack driver of a 308, but MAN it's heavy!

I agree with you if you have the opportunity to shoot further, I rarely shoot anything at 100 yards, that’s a far shot for my place. If I would have shot an animal with the 300 I had I’d probably would have stuck with it instead of getting a 6.8

                            6.8 - 6.5 = 0.03... Geesh!

They’re pretty much the same out to 300 yards, then the Grendel takes over. 6.8 does well with shorter barrels.
