Rented a Nikon 400 f2.8 VR this past weekend to do some postseason waterfowl photography from some of the blinds where we were still holding a lot of birds. Saturday morning we threw out a couple of decoys and as we were getting set up I leaned my camera against the blind and low and behold I look up and a teal landed about 30 feet from us. I looked a bit closer and realized it was a Cinnamon! Slowly took the lens cover off and got set up and realized I was set up in Manual mode at f8 and 1/1600 shutter speed. Dialed shutter speed down until my ISO got below 3200 and snapped off a few shots. Got it down to 1600 ISO and 1/25th shutter speed...jammed the camera against my cheek and pressed down as hard as I could on the top of the lens to stabilize. Turned out decent but still some noise.

Shutter speed was too slow for this one because it was still early but turned out ok.
