    Anybody make strings?

Bought a Little Bear at a garage sale yesterday, no string

    48" AMO

Anybody make stings and how much would you charge?

Is it 44" string for 48" AMO bow?

Also it is missing the medallion, any way to determine age?

I think the rule of thumb is to deduct 3" from bow length.

        Quoted for fact.

Just remember, that measurement is of the string while under load, so the relaxed length will be shorter, and the length of different materials will vary some. Polyester/Dacron material will have a relaxed length of 1 to 1.5 inches shorter.

You need to measure the bow to get an accurate AMO length. It may, or may not be true to how the bow is marked. If the bow does indeed measure 48", then you need a 45" string.

Bear was accurate on their bow lengths. I am not an expert on Little Bears but can tell you this much, the Little Bear was produced from 1965-1978 in Grayling, Michigan. It is not compatible will low stretch string materials. I use Dacron for my strings and make them 3 3/4 to 4" shorter than AMO length. They will stretch quite a bit in the first few dozen shots so tweaking of brace height is expected. The Little Bear is a low draw weight bow so the stretch may take a little longer. One of these days I will get my hands on a Little Bear for the grandkids to use. It seems that the ones I bid on are the ones everyone else wants also.

Anybody know where to look to figure out age based on the serial #?

I think Bear customer service could help with date.

I was thinking 70s but I am curious what tips you off to 1972. Prefix on the serial number?

No Late '71 '72 Little Bear had a sticker no coin, some of the Black Bear Recurves did as well, I still have mine from Christmas that year.
