Default School removes quote.

"the more you act like a lady the more hell act like a gentleman"

This quote was removed off the wall of a school. It was replaced with another quote but I can't remember what the new quote said. Anyone know?

https://madamenoire.com/1036836/this...-im-disgusted/

Yes this article says it was painted over but I briefly saw on the news they put up another quote.

So it is up for 5 years and now, one or two bitchy individuals who im quite sure would not disagree with it in their own house makes them remove it.
Things were so much better when administrators blew off such trivial complaints.

I thought it was an odd choice for an inspirational wall quote.
Aren't we supposed to be responsible for our own behavior and actions?

I tell Riley that or something similar all the time. I actually tell her "you act like a slut, dress like a slut don't be surprised if your treated and used like a slut". I tell young men "Always be Gentleman even when its not earned". Goes both ways

I think some punctuation will help that quote.

Are we supposed to be for this or against this. As the father of a young man and a young woman, this is something that i would tell my son and i would never tell my daughter. Not sure how that really fits in a school setting.
How much a young man was raised to be a gentleman to my daughter has a direct correlation to his chances of getting the crap beat out of him by my son or myself though.

It's ok they painted over that. Seems like it is putting all the emphasis on a young ladies behavior, and discrediting the need for the young man to act resprctful to ALL women.

Also, if you reversed this to read, “ the more you act like a gentleman, the more she’ll act like a lady.” That would be the end of any type of gentalmanly behavior for the rest of humanity.

I don't understand what that has to do with school. Don't they have dress codes and whatnot so those perverted teenagers don't get as many ideas about doin the nasty? How many people live their life based off of a quote anyways? At that age you ain't paying attention to what is in the books in front of you let alone what's written on the wall.

If your son ain't a gentleman and your daughter turns out to be a little hoe bag it ain't the schools fault.

Walking around my daughters high school this weekend, trying to find all of her classes. They had staff offices all around with full open windows and marker board walls. There were several who had positive quotes on their wall. One had a quote "Please wash your stinky feet!". We both got a chuckle out of it

Went to hibachi for dinner tonight. When I told the cook, that his onion volcano offended me because of all of the people who had recently been affected by volcanoes, my daughter told me "You can't say that". I told her "we can laugh about it or cry about it and I aint crying today!"

New quote was some generic "you can change the world." Being HISD, how about "pay attention class, wal mart only pays $7.25"

As a father of 3 daughters I have no problem with the original quote. I promise you teenage girls have a lot more control over sexual activities than a teenage boy. Right or wrong at that age and on that topic girls are the ones that control the morals.

The issue as I understand it was that the quote was from a hooker or famous madam. Probably not the best person to quote in a school

So good knowledge is discounted because of the source? Man knowledge is knowledge regardless of where is comes from.

Ain't that the truth. At the same time, they get enormous amounts of pressure put on them, I know lol.
Not an excuse, but at that age, most are very susceptible to peer pressure.

I'm glad the quote was taken down. Blaming a female for wearing what she chooses, because you can't control yourself is ridiculous.

Control yourself no matter the situation. That's what I teach my 3 Daughters, and my Son. The actions of others, does not determine who you are. Be respectful and kind in every situation.

Dress like a slut, act like a slut, and you will most likely be treated like a slut. Females should have limits to what they wear. They can't walk around nude. Dress codes are there for a reason also.

But I don't see how that quote blames the girl...Some of you people look way too deep into things and try to see things that may not be there.

Guys have dress codes as well. The issue isn't the dress code.

Men should have limits on themselves. Your weakness shouldn't be a reason for a rule for another person.

Not saying the knowledge is discounted. But I wouldn't be putting hooker quotes on the school walls if I was in charge. Pretty sure we can come up with better folks to quote to guide our children's moral compass

Parents should guide their children's moral compass. If a good quite from a hooker is going to cause your children to go off track then you have already lost this war. I know lets also remove all the old statues because they did things that we no longer would...if we just do that we will correct every wrong that has ever happened......

this quote was doomed regardless of whether it was a hooker/madame/pimp that said it, or whether it implies undue responsibility on ladies to moderate behavior of everyone. obviously, the quote implicitly perpetuates outdated ideas of binary gender roles and identites, therefore it has no place in a supposed inclusive non-hostile learning environment.

I like hookers as much as the next guy. I just think they have their place....not in the schools. And it wouldn't throw my children off track but I still wouldn't use hooker sayings to teach the behaviors we are looking to promote. So you know, I'm also against quotes from drug dealers and pimps. But statues are another issue. I think a big ole statue of Pablo Escobar outside the elementary shcool would be pretty sweet! Maybe him riding a motorcycle shooting the bird
