Shooting for the kill zone.
What a 3D target is supposed to simulate.
Gonna simulate 3D shooting, with a slight twist. Just need a regular 9-inch paper plate to represent the "kill zone". (If you only have larger plates, then draw a circle at 9 inches to mark the scoring edge -- beyond that line will be a penalty.) In the middle, draw a 2-inch circle with a centerpoint dot, then a 5-inch circle with the same center.

Shoot two arrows using any stance from 15 yards (kids, 12 yards). In the 2-inch circle is 12 points; 5-inch circle is 10 points; on the paper plate is 8 points. The twist is: off the paper plate is MINUS 5 points. (Don't want to hit out of the kill zone -- that's a wounded animal). Line cutter counts higher value; measure closest arrow to centerpoint in case of a tie.

This is really Tradtiger's idea but since the heat about has my brain fried I appreciate his help.

Here's mine. Total of 18 points, closest arrow 1-11/16"

I could live with a 9 point average.

Yeah. Glad I could at least adjust from the low-left first arrow to get the second one in there a little more like I want.

Still a lot of room for improvement, y'all! Choot it!

Well I'd be mad if I made shots this bad on an animal but it's what it is. First shot was a line cutter. Second not quite as bad.

How could you be mad about missing your spot by 1.5??? Those are about the best misses you can make on a hunting shot!!! As my buddy Chunky always says Id rather miss low that hit high!.
When a critter moves, 99.9% of the time it is down and not up!!!

Yeah but I missed the dot.
You can't tell but I was right not really low. I put the target on it's back so the ruler could lay flat for the pic.

#1 dotted.

#2 was just inside the 2" line, but when I leaned the bow on it to take the picture it pushed it over, and down some, and tore the plate.

Sorry.

But . . . But . . . Yeah. No sweat. I can't tell you how many I shot and never even made a post. Sometimes it still happens.

Hey, Cody, glad to see you joining the fun! Enjoyed shooting with you at the club shoot this week. Congrats on winning the Selfbow division.

Which bow did you shoot the challenge with? I know you're going back and forth on grips.

Longbow is what I had on my riser...shot both low. Got it figured out after a few shots but the first 2 were about like last Sunday!

Thanks.

I'm trying to think of something.

I'll get something posted before the end of the day.
