Will he survive?

I blacked out this deers head and antlers. I am curious what y’all think could have caused the injury and if you think he will survive it. We have three years of history with this buck and antler wise he exceeded our expectations this year. This is the first time we have seen him since March (typically for him). No idea what happened but guessing it is recent as his antler growth doesn’t appear to have been impacted by the injury. Hoping that we get a chance at him a n the near future, but he is a smart deer.

I'd say he got hit by a car. My son killed an axis buck once with three broken legs. Bones sticking out. Was an older injury as meat was fine.

If he does survive I bet he'll be 3 legged. Leg looks necrotic to me. Mother nature can be brutal!

Hit by a car is my guess.
Why the blackout on his head?

He will lose that leg, I'd guess.
But when he drops his antlers, coyotes will get him.

If the bone is broke, that leg will fall off. His horns may fall off early too. That injury should dumb him down though as he will be looking for an easy meal.
