Default Truth Be Told.....Pittsburg Steeler Player

Truth be told.........Who out there thinks that the one player from the Pittsburg Steelers that went out during the National Anthem has received threats from some of his teammates? I would bet he did.

Not sure, but at his size and with his training/background, I bet he's not real worried about it.

He's a former Army ranger with a bronze star and combat V. Not to mention he's over 300lbs.

I doubt he's gotten any threats.

Doubt it. They know him and his back ground. Big Ben said he regrets the way the team handled this and said they will be on the field next week.

Of course they will be.....by this morning the NFL understands the **** storm they have let happen and it is going to cost them 100's of millions of dollars on top of the loses they have already experienced if they continue down this road. People are pisssssed! They worship the $$$ and will react accordingly. I cant wait to see the rating for the Sunday night game and tonight's game. They will be extremely low compared to previous standards.

I'm fairly confident he would be more worried about the disrespect not standing would show to his true brothers, those that have served. He'd beat up any of these pseudo warriors in a heartbeat

For everyone that's calling him a hero.... he is for his military service, but he has already apologized for standing out there by himself and letting his teammates down.

As for Villanueva, they are trying to paint him as a poor teammate that threw the rest of his guys under the bus (where they belong).

Shameful, makes me sick.

Yes, he came out and apologized for making the team look bad. Said he didn't make it up the tunnel in time and wasn't going to be disrespectful at that point.

Personally, I don't think he should have had any reason to apologize one way or the other. Tomlin kind of through him under the bus after the game too.

His jersey was flying off of shelves this morning though.

I don't know if he's gotten any threats, but I would have liked to heard the conversation in the locker room before he went out on the field.

Surprised he didn't just go off on the team for being so ridiculous!
The entire team and organization disrespected him.

Yes, you could see it that way; he let his team down by not standing by their sides in protest, thus why he apologized...

Now, when can we expect his teammates to apologize to HIM for not having his back in support of his service to this country (that give them said rights/freedom to protest)?

I don't agree with what they did, but do have some inside information on what actually happened, not what we are seeing. I know a guy really really well who plays for the Steelers. Stand up dude, does alot for our community, church, and loves to hunt. Before the game they had a players only meeting and decided on standing in the tunnel instead of the field for the national anthem. They voted on 3 choices. I don't remember exactly what they were but something along the lines of
1. Whole team stands on field holding hands
2. Whole team on field, standing if they wanted/kneeling if they wanted.
3. Stand/kneel in the tunnel out of the public eye. (This was voted on to stay out of the media for their beliefs. Those kneeling wouldn't have to deal with the b.s. this backfired. I also believe that Villanueva was to do as he pleased because of his vet background.
this was decided as a team, to stay out of the spotlight, it didnt work that way.

i will say that if vance was okay with this I am sure it was with good intentions. He has always stood for his beliefs, even when he was the only one with them.

I know one that played in the late 90s...

He stated that many ex Steelers made calls Sunday night letting them know the team disgraced the uniform with that BS...

He states he was told they won't be pulling that "hiding in the tunnel like cowards" crap again...

Ok, here we go. Looks like someone got to him or they ganged up on him. Peer pressure can be hell even on a Hero.

A quote from Villanueva,

“Unfortunately, I threw my teammates under the bus, unintentionally,” he said. “Every single time I see that picture of me, standing by myself, I feel embarrassed.”

The press says even his own Coach Mike Tomlin shamed him for being out there.

There may be some people out there with buyers remorse this morning after buying his jersey.

He needs to make up his mind and not crawfish. He is trying to have it both ways. I respected him big time yesterday but if he is going to crawfish and say he didn't know they were not behind him then I am not buying it. Make up your mind, are you standing with your Army Rangers or are you going to side with a bunch of losers hiding in a tunnel. You can't have it both ways. Oh and Tomlin, you have no stones to throw him under the bus, I lost all respect for you and I had a lot of respect for you because of the way you always stood for the right thing. Well when you threw an Army Ranger under the bus I now know who you are. At least you exposed yourself.

These kneelers have not seen their fathers casket with a flag draped on it right before being lowered into the their grave and had a military man hand your mom the flag. If you ever see this for your own father you will never accept disrespecting the Great American Flag EVER.

Go to Canada NFL, or go to HELL....

I completely agree, Tomlin exposed himself yesterday, at least we know who he is now, a complete loser in regards the service men and women who have fought and died for this country. He should never wear anything that symbolizes the fighting men and women of this country ever again. He's a complete disgrace to the armed forces of this country.

He may have "Disappointed" the other 52 guys in the locker room. That's fine...because he sure as hell made his service brothers proud (Far more than the # in the NFL), and has certainly gained many many fans.

I believe it was Sports Illustrated that had an article on it. He was suppose to stand with Ben Rothlesburger in the tunnel, and a guy carrying a flag got in his way, so he couldn't see that the rest of his team stopped. By that point, the anthem was going and he wasn't going to walk back in the tunnel.

I find it all very odd. But I think he's facing some heat from inside his clubhouse, and he's trying to tamper that a little bit by releasing the statement he did today

Like I said Peer pressure, Bullying, Ganging up what ever you want to call is in play here at some level. Despite him being a war hero they are pressuring him at some level.

Are they not hypocrites then? (Those that decided to kneel while the rest of the team stood, at any point from when it all started, to this past Sunday). I say this because they did not follow the agreement set forth by the team (That they would be present and at least stand during the Anthem Post 2009 - when it became mandatory for teams to be on the field). Now, when he accidentally doesn't adhere to the agreement, he faces scrutiny. #LiberalLogic
