If'n you follow the rules, Nothing is to be left after your hunt ..... Cameras, stands, feeders, trash, etc.

If'n you choose to leave cameras out all season, you do so at the risk of them being missing when you return. The Corps considers them abandoned property.

There are idiots that live in Kopperl. Who consider Corps land their own personal property.. And will steal anything they find, ride ATV's during hunting hours , etc.

Also, don't think for a second that the Corps office doesn't monitor this thread. They monitor all year long.

Points taken. I am unfortunately well aware of the ATV issue. Ruined 4-5 hunts last year running within 50 yards of me 45 minutes before dark. Have seen this on multiple sections. Leaving a camera out while scouting and then picking up same day should be considered acceptable? I make a best effort to follow rules for two reasons:
1. It is a privilege we have and I don't want to be a part of screwing it up
2. It makes the hunt more challenging which I enjoy. This is why I don't have a lease somewhere.

Thanks.

As to cameras, I think the Whitney ACE rule is you can have one out as long as your hunting. But it is to be removed when the hunt is over. Or something like that. ACE carries bolt cutters and a ladder when they go looking for stands and gear. I've also know they sometimes carry a cutting torch in one of the Mules they drive. And they usually do it on weekdays when the crowd is away. But I have seen them out looking mid-day on the weekends too. Just say-n .

Set out till after dark Friday and watched the deer. The deer were very active late in the evening. Saw a couple of young bucks getting frisky, pushing each other around. Also, saw a buck, about 3.5 years old, making a scrap. Scratched it out, left his scent on the lower limbs and peed down his hocks. Seems awful early for that.

If it cools down next weekend like the weatherman said, it should be good hunting next weekend.

Good luck to all.

I plan on doing some hunting on the COE land this year. I want to be as considerate of others as I possibly can.

1) In terms of not interrupting others hunting, what's the best way to avoid disrupting other hunters?

2) What's the best way to signal to other hunters that you are hunting in a particular area?

3) If you see/walk upon someone hunting a particular area, how do leave with the least interruption? How far do you go to be considered as having given others their fair share of space?

4) Other advice to avoid being the most hated guy in the woods.

Thanks.

Storm, looks like the right distance to me!

I need to get a spot going soon. Been out of town for training two times in three or four weeks. Got plenty of spots just need to start baiting.

It's open to all who want to come so come catchup on tall tales and lies, or meet people you've only met thru the green screen. I wish the best of luck to all of you this season and hope to keep on meeting more of you.

Default Legality of it?

Got a question of the legality of hunting from a stationary boat? Scouted out an area this weekend, saw several nice deer there, but when I walked it, the trees were too small to climb. Would it be legal to hunt from a stationary boat? Probably not, but curious...

Great first bull David!

Storm, I still don't know if I'll make it tomorrow night or not. I do have to work Friday. Won't get off till 2:30 Friday. Then, if I don't work Saturday, I'll be headed to the house to load up for the night at the park. Then head back home Saturday for house chores. Gonna try to hunt somewhere Sunday, maybe.

Getting antsy and trying to find things to occupy my mind before I can start hunting to fill the freezer. Took my first run at fletching arrows today. Think they turned out pretty good. Put in a half dollar group of three from 20 yards right before dark. Blazer vanes and Bohning American Flag wraps.

Howdy brothers and sisters. I am new to this side of the forum but wanted to wish everyone luck for the opener. I've been scouting the lakes pretty hard the past couple of months and I am excited to say the least. Last weekend I saw some nice does and a couple Giant Turkeys. Ten years now with a bow and I have yet to harvest a deer. Although the wait might be over because I think this is the year! Again, Good luck to everyone and stay safe.

Who else plans on being in the stand entirely to early?

Hey everyone, I've been following this thread for awhile but this is my first time posting here. This is only my third year hunting on public but I've hunted the area since 2008. I have high hopes for this season but the hogs are bad where I'm hunting so we'll see. Good luck to everyone this season.
