I'd have put my I bolt on the other end. If you didn't double nut the eye bolt they will get it off.

Any pic of the crimped cable instead of the eye bolt?

cable is so much easier and there is no way a hog can break it! All you have to do is drill a hole in the end cap like you normally would use for an eye bolt and feed the cable thru it and clamp it!

Less parts/cheaper and can't be unscrewed or broken!

i hope so for your sake also. Was a bad feeling going back to the area my pipe was at and not seeing the pipe within 100 yards and then therefore not being able to hunt over it since it was gone for 2 weeks.

Has anyone run the cable all the way through the pipe and clamped the tag end after it went through the pipe. Then on the other end make your loop and clamp. This way there won't be any swivels!

Looks good slinging carbon. You won't regret using that stake. It won't bind up and stays in the ground.

Default Pig pipes

I always put a fake wall in my about a foot from the opposite end of the cap. I glue it in with pipe glue then I got to walmart and buy a pack of 50 marbles and put about 10 or so in there then put the end cap on. That way they always think there is corn in there when they roll it around, they can here it My pigs will empty a feeder in less than a week once they find them!!! just fyi is all

Just set up two yesterday.

Not sure what everyone does but I put a lot of 1/4 inch holes (not big enough for corn to fall out) and only put about 5 holes big enough for corn to fall out ( 3/8) .
This has worked good for me in the past, keeps them busy and you don't have to refill it every week.

Has anyone ever used a pig pipe to get them to come in and then when they find it, built a 6 trap around it? I would think having the live action inside of a pig working the pipe would attract more hogs into the trap. Anyone try this one?

Finally got mine made and put out. It didn't take long for the pigs to find them. I put one out in a grassy meadow where you could not even see it in the 2 - 3 foot high grass and weeds. Here's what I had 3 days later when I went back to check.

I used the cable method, but don't think I made the hole in the cap big enough because they get it unscrewed sometimes. They also got one of them twisted up and broke the 840 lb cable around the T-post. These things are so fun to watch though. I have my Covert game cam on one of them and wake up to 50 - 60 texts of pigs pushing a pipe all night long. They must get dizzy.

Put 5/8s washers over your corn holes to keep out tree rats. drilled holes in washer and used self tappers.

I've seen a few pics in this thread with deer......how do the deer respond to these? We don't have pigs at our lease, but lots of deer and a few javelina. I'd to improvise using one of these instead of a feeder.

Also, will cows mess with them? I wouldn't think so.

The deer love them. I seem to have some that only have deer on them and others that only have hogs. I don't know about cows.

Mine haven't been doing very well. I'm not sure why.

Also, we used a chain with a quick link on one end of the chain so I could wrap it around a tree or most commonly, it catches a 2" ring that slips over the Tpost. I'll try to get pictures soon.

Has anyone tried this on a larger scale say using a 55 gallon drum. I need to set a couple up but I want to put enough corn in it to last a month at a time.

get a 55 gallon plastic barrel drill 3-5 1/2 holes in it in random spots and tie it off to a tree. it will last ALOT longer than the pipes they will spend all night rolling it around

Yes, we have one set up at our place with a plastic 55 gallon drum and it works just the same. It WILL NOT last a month, if you fill it up, they will stay there until it's empty.

I have two extra 30 gal barrels, former Moultrie feeders. Since I joined the big-@#$ed feeder club they are just laying around. I'm gonna make me two and put some big nuts or bolts in them to make noise. I will put one close enough to the fire pit (back of the house) and one close enough to the front porch to be heard and hunted from different winds. Then, I will sneak up with my red lights and AR and harvest some sausage on the hoof!

Seen this thread a year or so ago and after having one boar immediately destroy a feeder that I had staked, wired and done everything but plant pipe in the ground for it to sit on decided to build one of these till I had him killed off. Don't have pics but got all hardware from tractor supply used a 2" steel ring, then swivel, then short 1' piece of chain, another swivel, I bolt into glued end of 4" pvc cap with two flat washers and double nutted to keep them from working loose. Working like a charm just need to get out and kill him. This one has six holes drilled in a spiral pattern down the 4' pipe but they are just big enough to let 10 ish kernels out per complete rotation. I think the holes ended up being about 7/16. Started at 1/4 kicked it around then just slowly made the holes bigger until it was dumping what we needed out of it.

Takes a little less than a 40 pound bag to fill it up about 3/4 full and to get them to start pushing it around dumped the rest of the bag around the pipe. And used the short chain to hopefully help keep it from binding up and give them less leverage to really jerk on it.

Had this one out for 2 weeks still has some left in it, will refill later this week and put a camera up.

Im pretty interested in making one of these in a slightly larger size to put at my buddies place in kirbyville. Not to large, maybe a 15 or 20 gallon size max. Yall think that will work with the same principal just larger scale??

Kinda like this guy

We have one at our place that's a 55 gallon plastic barrel and they push it around just fine, obviously we don't fill it all the way up though.
