    Brisket gumbo

I had some brisket that was left over in the freezer I wanted to do something with. This worked well and was very filling. I'm no Cajun so this may not be even considered gumbo.

So I threw some stuff together...

    1 white onion
    a couple of green chilies
    1 cloves of garlic
    1 bell pepper
    3 lbs of brisket cubed
    2 T worcestershire sauce
    1 can of tomatoes
1 bag of frozen gumbo vegetables (I found those in the freezer. I didn't even know there was such a thing)
    2 cups of water
1 cup of beef stock or bullion
    hot sauce to taste.
    1t salt
    Cracked black pepper

Melt some butter in a stock pan and add onion, garlic, chilis and peppers. Cook them until soft.
Add water, beef stock, & brisket. Bring to a boil then simmer for 20 min.
Add the vegetables, tomatoes, worcestershire sauce and simmer another 15-20 min until brisket is pretty much melting. Season with salt, pepper, & hot sauce to suit your taste.

    Serve over steamed rice.

That recipe will be put to good use after the superbowl. Sounds delicious and very easy.

I guess I will have to figure out how to make roux or rename it then.

That is stew, definetily not Gumbo! Onion, bellpepper, celery are the only vegetables in Gumbo, make your roux, add the Trinity, then your water. Add your meat, and cook. Leave all that other junk out! But for a stew that sounds pretty good!
