Four years ago my wife and I made the decision to move out of the “big city” and purchased a house in the small town of Weimar, so we could live in the “country”. One of the major reasons we choose the house we did was because it had a detached 650 sqft building or workshop. I immediately had aspirations of turning it into my “Man Cave”.
Well four years and a ton of hard work later, my “Man Cave” is complete! My dad and I put a lot of blood, sweat and curse words into it, but it was all worth it! Initially the building was just a frame with outer walls, rafters at 8 ft and 2 garage doors. The first task was cleaning it out. Then we knocked the rafters out and added two larger cedar posts in order to raise the ceiling to 12 ft. We removed one of the garage doors and added a large window. We built the bar, the “Outhouse”, and insulated and walled everything in. Finally we completed all the carpentry, trim, and the ceiling. Over the course of the 4 years I was gathering the pictures, beer stuff and collectibles. A little decorating and tidying up and it was ready for show!
I couldn’t be more proud of the way it turned out! I look forward to many fun parties and stories in the “Man Cave”. If you are ever in the Weimar area, come find me, I’d be glad to show it off!
