Heck no. I would hope he passes those genes all season.
Where I work they can’t shoot trophies till 7.5!

Why shoot him? Sounds like he'll be an incredible deer next year.

Would have to see pics but suspect you could shoot if break was below brow

I would not shoot but y'all apparently have a plan so I wouldn't hold it against you if you did shoot

If flush, not legal, if broke off below the brow thus making it unbranched, legal. If a GW wrote you a ticket for it it would not stand in court the way the law is written.

I wouldn't shoot him either way.
          Yep.

So what was the GW’s answer?

Maybe he isn't 13" with both sides...?

Unless he is a 100 inch 17 point, there is no way in Heck I would shoot this deer. Some may say well he is only 13 inches wide, well he may breed a doe from a 20 inch wide deer. Takes two to tangle and make a baby. Unless he is a ****, no way is 6.5 age is a reason to cull a 17 point buck. He still has 2-3 more years of growing big antlers.

I agree with this 100%. No way do I take a broken deer off a place because he is 6.5. Let him breed away and see what he becomes next year!

100%. I read this the other day and thought I cannot imagine shooting a busted up buck of that caliber.

Yeah be sure to get those 17 point genetics out of your herd stat. Can you even imagine if other 17 point bucks started popping up. Can’t be having that.

I'd pass... but mainly cause that would be a shot at biggest deer we have killed on our place next year

Hes legal regardless if he is broken off at the base or just above it. Now if its broken somewhere in the middle he needs to be 13". I probably wouldnt shoot him if hes been around a long time. If I saw him for the first time while hunting I would definitely kill him.
