    Bent up the trailer jack

I guess I didn’t have the jack up far enough on this 6x10 and it took a beating. Any ideas on what to do here? I’d like to get it back to original like condition considering it is my buddies trailer. I took the jack off and the mount that is welded as the tongue is all bent up so I can’t just install a new jack without fixing that part first.

Heat it up with a torch, hammer it back as flat as you can get it and weld on a new jack.

Pictures and I can tell you. I fix one about once a month for people.

I did the same a couple of weeks ago. I plan on getting it hot and using a come-along to pull it back like it was. Nothing on mine was hurt. Just twisted the way the jack sits a little.

I did this years ago on mine. Cut it completely off and put a slab of metal in it's place.

Welded a pivoting jack to the side with a wheel. works great.

This is one reason I never loan out trailers.

                          Bent up the trailer jack

I bent, broke, mangled about 1/2 dozen trailer jacks. Dad got tired of them not working , and having to replace them every year, and put one of these on it.

When it's all the way up, the foot plate is flush against the bottom of the frame rails. You just have to crank it down several turns to expose the pin to drop the foot down to the ground, and crank from there. Plenty stout to unhook the trailer with the tractor or 4 runner on it, and impossible to tear off...I've tried.

Those fold up ones are dangerous POS's.

Bending breaking the jack is like tear off the plate or busting a lense cover. It’s part of pulling/owning a trailer. Something is going to go wrong.

I hate the fold up ones too. But I can't stand the handle like in that pic either. The dolly legs would be a good one.
