    TBOT Rule

Can you use wooden arrows in the Recurve and Longbow open class?

All I Shoot are woods now but I like to shoot 4 rounds on a weekend if I can. I read somewhere no woods in the open class so I wasn’t sure.

No wood allowed in open class - I'm assuming it's because that would allow you to shoot the same set-up in two classes

To prevent vintage technology from being used as an advantage over those warped, bent carbon and aluminum arrows.

As more proof that "it's not the arrow, it's the indian," the winning scores in the wood class are usually less than 10 points below winner the open class. (and often the same guy!)

What’s the reasoning behind the rule Larry? Just curious, and hope your doing well brother!

The rule was put in place to keep folks from using the exact same equipment in different classes.

Don't see what the problem would be with someone shooting the same equipment, which put them at a voluntary disadvantage to others. Maybe like a mulligan round with less consistent materials yet now zeroed in?

But.......what if they shot the open class first, then went back and shot the selfbow class!

The rule is what it is! There is always different angles to look at a situation.

I can respect the rule, but I know my woods are less consistent than the carbons and think that is a fairly prevalent fact. Dropping it.

I will add (with tongue firmly inserted in cheek) that as a former legislative aide, it almost sounds like the carbon arrow lobbyists got the rule inserted to ensure more sales of carbon arrows to the vast legions of traditional archers....
