    Big piggy down

Took this boar on Saturday morning in SW Llano county. He was acting really sketchy while coming in, possible he had picked up my scent so I didn’t let him wait around long. I shot him with a 420 grain Easton axis with a Rage Trypan.. he only went about 50 yards.

What’s your bow set up draw and lbs? That’s a massive entry.

Great hog but I am surprised that he doesn't have bigger teeth. Back in the 80's Gene Whitehead who owned the Granite Hills Ranch purchased a bunch of Hampshire boars and turned them loose on the ranch in an attempt to improve the genetics, better meat hogs. While I am sure that most of the boars died or were killed by the wild boars without breeding a sow but seeing some of the hogs in the area makes me think that some did reproduce.
We caught two really big boars east of Menard along the San Saba River about a month ago that had white belts on them. As many of you know, that is a characteristic of the Hampshire breed. These two boars had really big teeth. We videoed the hunt and it will be aired on CARNIVORE this next season.
                      Adios,
