    Limpy

Been photographing this old monarch for 5 years now. Every year, I don't expect to see him. He's had a bad limp for the past 3 years and now it looks like his jaw is swollen with infection. But he's still the boss.

I'll try to keep up with his progress this year, that is - if he allows me.

I'll go back and find some, then post them up. He's been a fun one to photograph - staying "just" far enough from my vehicle except for a time or two. I'm sure by now he's saying "oh geez, there's that guy with the camera again..." LOL.

It's cool that you've been able to follow him for a few years now

Really like the use of DOF in this.

Yea, those long tele's really squish the DOF. Even at F8, he stands out from both the foreground and background. At 5.6, it would be even more pronounced.

                Handheld? Great shot regardless.

Thanks. Yes, handheld. That Tamron is ridiculous, with it's vibration compensation system. That's 600mm on a crop body, for an effective 960mm, hand held, at just 1/160 of a second.

Yesterday morning, I saw one even wider than this guy on my commute to work. He was impressive to say the least. Just a little slow on the draw, and didn't get a photo. But maybe next time.
