Jug line DIY "Credit to my buddy Frank"

Well i was looking around online at jug line setups to make me some.
I got a call from a buddy of mine telling me he made some and explained to me what he did. So I made a few and decided to share his method.

    Items needed:
Noodle foam fat round ones. Skinnys will work if that's all you find.
    3/4" PVC
    3/4 pipe cap
PVC quick set cement "blue works very fast"
    White duct tape
    Good tarred line
Good hooks, 000, 0000, or 00000. Work well
    --------------------------------------------------

To make 10 jugs you need:
    1 10' pipe
    10 pipe caps
    2 noodles
    1/3 roll white duct tape.
    ---------------------------
    Instructions:
Cut the pipe into 1 foot sections.
Glue 1 pipe cap on each section.
    Cut noodles into 6" sections.
Drill 3/16 hole into the open end of the PVC sections. "you can drill all the way through or just a single hole." I drilled a single.
Push the noodle onto the PVC up to the pipe cap.
Depending on the average depth of water your putting these in. You make your line just long enough so the fish can't get to limbs etc and get tangled up.
I use 2 hooks per jug. Law says up to five per jug.
    That's it!

These jugs will flag. Only difference is, when the fish is not on. The jug doesn't stay flagged. It will lay back down.

First try my lines were too long for where I was using them. Lost 3 fish because they tangled in sunk trees yesterday. Today I went back and shortened the lines. Had 2 playing but didn't get hooked. And I lost a jug! It is gone. Kept looking for 2 to 3 hours while bass fishing. Guess this weekend just wasn't on .
But I will be back at it. Had 10 jugs, 20 hooks. Bait used was, perch, crawfish, cut up gizzard shad & hook size shad. I did not leave the jugs over night. I set them out and went fishing for 4 to 5 hours. Too many people cruising this bayou to leave them out. Well hope you guys like his idea. It works and is very durable and cheap.

Here is a cat my buddy caught with his jugs.

Looks like the same type my FIL made and uses and he says they work great and are easy to store without tangling. Nice Job!

They have to be white. But white reflective tape is costly. So if you use 1 strip on each one then your good to go at night.

will have to give these a shot

When you say to make the lines just long enough are you referring to they need to just reach the bottom with no slack?

It depends on the bottom. If it is full of tree limbs etc like in a bayou. You want to be at least 1/2 the distance because they will get hung up.
Open lakes you can get close to bottom.
If you don't have a depth finder use a fishing rod to check.

They will tire and float. But you need to check every hour or two.

What kind of knot is used to tie the tarred line to the hook?
