I was following him in the scope, but the brush and him jumping over boulders, wouldn't allow a shot. I kept following him hoping he would slow down at the rim. There are a bunch of really big boulders at the rim, and he slowed almost to a stop pick his route out of there, and I was already on him. I touched off the old .264mag and it smacked him square in the shoulder. He rared back on his rears and tumbled back down the mountain about 30 yds toward us.

That feeling was just unreal watching him roll down the hill, undescribable, but most of you know it. It took forever then all happened really fast. So awesome.

Found the bullet under the skin in the opposite side neck.

Pictures just can't do the country justice, everything is so big, and so rough, and so cool.

Treys ram took us to the top of Horse Thief Canyon

This is where I shot from, my ram was skylit up on the rim to the left of that yucca.

This is from where he fell looking back out toward the road where I first spotted him. The road is at the base of that hill on the horizon.

                Rincon peak, and surrounding canyon.

The entrance to horse thief canyon.

My ram was 11 1/2 years old. Our guide said this would likely have been his last winter, he said when the horns start cracking like that that parasites get in there and eventually infect the brain.

Top of my bucket list, love west Texas hunting. A 11.5 year old ram is something impressive! Great hunt and pics, congrats!

                      See any big mule deer?

They pull some nice deer off that ranch.

Mule deer everywhere, we saw a few nice ones. They have that ranch in an MLD program so they can hunt deer nov-jan. I think he said there were 58 2500lb protein feeders they fill once a month.

That ranch is 104k acres and we saw 1/4 of it.
