    Tikka T3x Synthetic Stock paint.

Well, I got this rifle in a trade. I decided to paint the black synthetic stock with Rust-Oleum camouflage ultra cover 2x paint. This is the first time for me on this type of project. I saw a couple of YouTube videos and went to work on it.

After removing the barrel action, I used alcohol to clean the stock. Cut several pieces of sponge in different shapes and started with the lightest color. Once satisfied with all patterns by the three colors, I let the paint dry for 1 hour. I then put three coats with one hour apart of Ultra Cover Matte Clear to protect the finish. Left the stock drying for 24 hours before putting everything back together.

Thanks, at first it was just an experiment, I had plans on ordering a different stock but I like how balance and light the rifle is with this stock. Also for some reason the Tikka synthetic stocks don't feel flimsy or cheap like other synthetic riles stocks. Now I need to go sight-in the scope and go hunting with it.

Great job. A future tip would be to use a natural sponge which will give you a more detailed pattern and less chance of a solid blotch.

Great job. I really like how they turn out when done that way.

Check out Mountain Tactical Performance (also called Tikka Prevision) here in Bozeman for good machined aluminum accessories. I got a cnc machined bolt shroud to replace the factory plastic, and an aluminum magazine. They have other upgrade parts goodies as well.

The interesting thing is he set out to design a new trigger and determined the factory trigger is so nice he stopped. He does sell a spring to reduce the trigger pull.

Thanks for the info. I will check them out. I was told that the rifle had the trigger spring upgrade and it feels like a two stage trigger. Also when I took the rifle apart I noticed that the recoil lug is different from my other Tikka.

The trigger has some travel then hits the wall and breaks at 2 lbs. Is this normal when you do the trigger upgrade.
