Great move on your part. I’m sure you thought of it already, but give yourself room to add on in case you want to expand into a 3-4 bedroom and multiple baths.

    Build for future versatility

My in-laws are in Meyersville. We are actually here for the week visiting. Holler if you need a hand.

        Got the foundation done!
This is immensely gratifying work and I love that I’m getting to do it with my dad.

My wife has already started talking about how we could add a third bedroom “if needed” in the future [emoji1787]

We have to run up to San Antonio this week to help my in-laws with a quick project, but I’m hoping to run electric and water over to there site. Water well and meter are about 270’ away.

Then we will try to get the septic in before all our wood shows up. Met with the septic guy today, apparently we have great soil for it!

Quick thing I learned “post oaks don’t like Caliche, they prefer clay and gumbo” so the fact this particular sight only had live oaks was a strong indicator to him that the soil would be good, which we confirmed!

One last note.... I’ve learned I’m terrible with a square and a level, but I can sure work a shovel!

BS. Level is like backing up a trailer. Go slow.
If you can run a shovel you can do anything, most thing’s anyway.

We got a little bit dig yesterday before the rain set in.

This will be where we set the septic tank, and this is the first lateral line. Pics make the tank spot look small!

                    I resemble that remark!!!

A man has to rest sometime in his life, I think I'll do it just before I dye...

BTW - we'll be there this weekend and have BBQ going most the time, so anyone wanting to, come on out if ya can - I'll need a break...

                    tending the fire,
                    Bob G.

Got the septic Tank set this morning..

Almost done running water to the location.

And then Bob decided we need to take a strategic advisory break before we bust into running the electric!

RV Slot #1 installed... this will also serve as power at the work site and a junction box when we go to finish bringing electric to the house.

This was a 250’ run from the meter and we will then have another 30’ to the Cabin

Our mastermind carpenter is coming on Monday!
