I used to dip them (Hydrographics)

Next time, use a fine sandpaper (720grit) scuff up WITH DECAL ON, you don't want that area scuffed.

Then add a few coats of Grey Etch primer from local hardware store (spray can).

Allow 24hrs before you add the paints for the etch to set up.

Etch primer holds on to metal very well.

Then after you dip and peal decal off, add SEVERAL coats of Matte or Hi Gloss clear.

Thanks for the info, will have to do that when it starts to come off.

              Red neck dipping!

That looks great. Definitely need to scuff with scotch brite pad next time then self etching green primer first. Here's one we did!

Please make sure your container is big enough that the water has plenty of surface area, and grab you 3 or 4 different things to practice on. The paint will skim over pretty quick and that means you will have globs of paint instead of a nice even coat. If you see a film starting before you dip it is best to avoid that area or just stop and start over. I have been trying to find out how to keep the paint from drying so fast but have came up with nothing.

have you tried a paint retarder ? that should stop the drying issue (I think )

Looks pretty cool but why did you use TTU colors with the aTm logo?

Yes to an extent....... but is was clouding the water and the paint ran together.

The only reason is because I just ordered a new boat, it is black and white. The raised console, rocket launchers, power pole, backplate, ect ect are all powder coated red. So the short answer is to match my new boat.
