    Dove Food Plot?

I'm wanting to plant a food plot for dove this year. Anybody have suggestions on what to plant, or a mix, that would work well for the Texas coastal area. The soil on my property is mostly clay based.

I would think sunflowers would grow good down there

sunflowers millet milo is cheep and is pretty mature around that time of the year
if you plant milo just go buy some that's for feeding and it will be good enough
        for a food plot.

Don't know how far north you are, but if there are white wing in the area, sunflowers are their favorite. That is what is planted in the valley. They love sunflowers. Just need to figure out how to get them to mature at the right time. I know a farmer that plants every year. Can give you contact info if interested.

Sunflowers, Millet, or Milo. Pick one, I wouldn't do a mix. Hard to go wrong with Milo, they love sunflowers, but you have to plant the right variety. And sunflowers are basically a weed that will come back once it seeds out, so keep that in mind.

How much are you planting and what size area does that cover?

                    Asking for a friend.

I am planting Turner Seed Dove Mix. I had really good luck with their Fall Deer Mix, so I am giving this a try. I plan to go talk to them tomorrow to get the details. The good news is they know the farmer to my north fence so they know the dirt.

Sunflowers work well, so does fresh tilled/disc dirt.
