I'm getting antsy. Lots of deer activity this year and my stand is finally finished less painting the inside walls.

Let's go ahead and plan a get together/BBQ the Friday before opening day?

I'm heading to the Hill now with daughter in tow. Will poll cameras and paint the inside of the condo. I'm so ready to have this part completed!

Reward if found! I can't find my every day carry S&W .357 magnum nickel plated Lady Smith!!! I doubt but it could be at the cleaning station or inside the connex?

If I don't locate it soon I will file a Police Report on her

Well, got my wish! Still have deer coming in day and night and now sounders of pigs at all times of the night. One monster runs everybody off like clockwork! I might hunt him next weekend.

Anybody know how much rain Hilltop has had this week? I'm gonna try to make it up in the morning to work on my setup. Hoping it's not all knee deep.

I watched the radar close all week at work. Best I can tell 3+". I'll be out in a week myself. Will take the lobbers to trim back current growth

Every time. I want to see if the remedy I sprayed last weekend had any effect. I put some on a crepe myrtle stump at home and the sprouts have wilted but it sure didn't kill it.

Stand is up, ratchet strapped in solid. Replaced my feeder control and did some practice shooting from the stand down under the feeder. I'm ready to hunt now as soon we get a break in the weather.

So if you buy a lot when can you start hunting it? I have been reading you have to attend a meeting and a work day. When are those days set?

Thanks but I picked up a nice HSS harness from another TBH'er last week. So nice not having to fight the tangled mess that I had before.

So there is a meeting in September why can't you just pay the fees and hunt your own property? Don't see what the big deal is with that if the season has not started.

Think of it as a "club" and it will make sense. Just cause you own property there doesn't mean you get to hunt it. The property owners association allows hunting only by members of the club. Since members volunteer to run the club, they don't want handling memberships as thier day jobs. So there is a set of dates, rules etc to make life easier for those who are volunteering to run the business end of the club.

I'm heading to the condo after work today for an all night hunt. Hopefully it doesn't rain too much and if it does, maybe I'll catch some z's as it falls on the tin roof.

I'm the same way... rain on a tin roof provides just enough noise to lull me to sleep.

Opinions on this setup (view from 15' up). Should I keep clearing? I cut some behind the feeder 2 weeks ago and sprayed remedy. Last weekend there was so much new growth back there you would think I sprayed miracle grow lol.
No shortage of animals on camera though.

I wouldn't trim anymore but I would relocate your stand 10+ yards further away if possible.

Unfortunately I don't have many other options for stand placement unless I do a whole bunch more trimming. If I go in further on the other side of the feeder that would mean carving out a whole shooting lane.

Maybe I'll get energized with the chainsaw if we get a cool front before the season. My main target is pigs though and they always enter from the back side. I guess if I can be successful from the current location I have no reason to move it. We shall see in a few weeks!

Last year mine was 20 yards from the feeder in the brush. The only thing that was cut is a limb on another tree. Trim as little as possible and not a clean path to the stand. If you do, the deer will stay deep in the brush watching you and blow/bust you every time!

I put mine up pretty much like that guy except I think his is shorter. I had to get it on the tree with the first 2 sections, then pressed it up to shoulder height, held with one hand and moved the bottom section in place with the other hand. Not that hard if you have a clean, straight tree but when it's all crooked and covered in tons of vines, things get more interesting.

With the bow. I had just got in the stand and started getting stuff situated when they came in. I didn't have my bow out of the case or camera setup (was planning on filming the hunt). As I'm getting the bow out, the saw heard me and spooked/bolted. This one hung around laying down eating. As I drew he got up and headed for the brush. I caught him in the right ear and out between his eyes.

On a crappy note, my feeder got blown over in one of the storms with @ 200#'s of corn in it. Will go back next week and fix it.

Ok, like this view better? I think it was a good move. All the animals come from the back side and this tree is right off the property line for super easy access.
No interruption in cam pics from my little feeder hiccup. Funny thing is I left a pile of corn on the ground when I changed out feeder motors last week. The animals barely touched that but they are feeding on the fresh corn that spins out. Looks like I'm actually growing corn lol.

No interruption in cam pics from my little feeder hiccup. Funny thing is I left a pile of corn on the ground when I changed out feeder motors last week. The animals barely touched that but they are feeding on the fresh corn that spins out. Looks like I'm actually growing corn lol.
