Made a speed trip yesterday to fill feeders. Ranch looks good. Must have had some high winds recently as there are a lot of twisted up mesquite limbs on the ground. Did not really look for sheds but definitely didn't find any in the feed pens.

I will be heading down the week of May 16th to do more work before it gets hot. Well hotter than it is already lol.

We are fixing to pay a carpenter to expand our camp by 300 to 400 sq foot and hopefully he will be done by then. We are expanding the bedroom making it another 8 foot longer so it will be a 17x14 living room and adding a bedroom that will be around 14x17 or 14x20. Currently we have a 9x14 room with 2 bunk beds, a small single bed with a dresser and the 42" tv is on top of it. It will be nice to have the 9x14 bumped out 8 foot for the living room and mount the TV on the wall.

We got 1.5" with pea size hail. Our neighbors to the NE lost barns, trees, and power lines to a small tornado. We haven't found any damage yet.

Hoyt Man and myself are hunting in Duval County close to San Jose. We'll be bowhunting there a lot more since we lost our primary lease back home in Colorado county.
There must've been a heck of a storm come through there around the 18th. Three of our 4 rifle tower blinds were on the ground. I hauled a new one there last week and will be going back next week to stand her up. So if anyone's gonna be around the area and wants to lend a hand and drink a few cold ones, let me know. Lol

Dad and neighbor were gonna go down this week to check and top off feeders but not anymore since the rain hit and it will be to wet to get the wagon around

Hows everyone place looking?

I'm here in Duval county now. Everything's pretty green and thick. Gotta tear apart a fallen over box blind and set up a new one. Hope the rattlers leave us alone.

Hunting just north of Falcon Lake. Got some good potential on our lease. The good thing is that all of the leasees are management minded and work to make it better.

We got 3/4" while I was at the ranch in Catarina last night. Everything is green. We got a bumper crop of mesquite beans right now. Saw a ton of quail and they where all paired up. Looking like it is going to be another awesome year!

Not sure but I have BP saved in my contacts. They probably had to turn them all loose anyway. As far as the yote we didn't get a shot off. The javis I let walk. Only so many you can shoot until you get bored and I prefer to have people that have never shot one take them so they can at least skull mount them.

There's always next time. You had a good day seeing Texas wildlife. That's all that matters. Javelinas are cool. Someday I need to get one to have a shoulder mount done on.

I did have a blast today. I saw 8 Javis, 3 yotes, 1 bobcat, and about 15 deer today. There's times I'll drive 9 hrs from Baton Rouge and not fire a single shot. Now given the chance I'll shoot every yote or hog I see but I often pass on everything else.

I did see a buck today that already has great bases and a fork in his antlers.

Was at the ranch in Freer this weekend shooting hogs. We had 1.5'' and a lot of it was missing us to the South. Ranch looked great, everything was very green and the extra rain was in perfect timing. More quail pairs than I have seen in years. We didn't shoot any off this place last year in hopes we would get another good hatch. It would be nice to see the quail numbers where they once were....

In La Moca Ranch Area north of Laredo off 83 North. Got some rain Saturday for about 30-1hour and then small drizzle Sunday for majority of the day. Was looking at Game cams and noticed that some turkeys showed up at some feeders over last weeke

Which direction out of Freer are you hunting? The rain seemed real hit or miss down there. Farmlogs said our place got about 1.5"s.

Thanks, I was down there a couple weeks ago. Had .5" of rain in the gauge but not sure when it fell. We are seeing a ton of quail pairing up also. I'm hunting just south west of Hebbronville going towards Mirando.

Not sure what we got but my sister said it is a wet soupy mess down in Tilden right now. Almost got the truck stuck checking on feeders. I would guess we got 1-2". We needed it! Should keep things going for another month or so.
