the one in the op photos (even though they aren't color) look a little blacker and a stockier build to me.
I killed that one when snow was on the ground several years ago. He looked a lot darker alive too. There used to be a few of them east of where I live, I saw some on various occasions several years apart, too many years to have been the same one. I found one on the side of the road dead, and it was as black as any lab, but definitely a coyote.

I saw a few at a fur auction one time. They do exist.

Sorry, that is about as colorful as it gets right now in Crandall. We have no green winter grass yet. This was full color after our light dusting of snow a few days ago.

that's awesome, I've never seen one at all; except for pics of course.

                    Melanistic Coyote?

My dad missed one with his bow in St Francisville, LA years ago. He is still made about that one!

Great dog! Very cool photos. Thanks for posting.

I watched one in N OK for 2 days that looked like a white/gray Australian Shepard, like full bright white with a couple of blue/gray spots. I regret not shooting it.

East Texas is known for black color phased Coyotes.

Sounds like you better hurry and get him to the taxidermist before that happens and he moves away.

I'd love to get a black coyote. I'd take that over any deer, any day of the week.
