    Drop tines?

This deer is a young deer that we are going to let walk. Once he shed his velvet I seen two little bumps one on each side. What do you think the chances are that he will be a double drop one day? Or am I just crazy?

          Yep.

He is showing the capabilites, but have seen drops skip a year and some never come back. But, I would say his chances are much better than most your other deer.

Hope so he's in the middle of our 2500 acre pasture so he should.

I wouldn't consider those drop tines

I know they're not now! My question is could they turn into them in years to come?

Drops are a freak deal not guaranteed and most likely a one year deal

                    Drips often become drops

Bumps are normally an indicator of future drops. If good conditions present itself in the next few years, drops are possible. No guarantees though.

                              Haha

If you look at most sheds from bucks that grow drop tines, the previous year the sheds will have bumps. They wont normally grow where the bumps are. A deer might have a drop at any given year so you'll never know what they will look like from year to year. He might have a drop at 3 1/2 and not again until 8 1/2. So in some cases, especially on lowfence, if you see a drop tine buck that you like you might consider killing him.
