Default How to capture video stills??

Waht is the best method ya'll have found to capture video stills off:

1. video tapes from a recorder
2. video from your camera.

I am in the process of completely updating all my computer/camera/video editing equipment and could use the info. Thanks

I like to capture stills off the video once I get it on the computer. To me its much easier to capture the frame I am looking for with my editing software(Adobe Premiere Pro).

Even though many video cameras today offer some sort of 'still shot' feature, when you do that you 'interrupt the recording process. It's a great effect but is actually safer to capture from your finished video from your editing program to incorporate the "Ken Burns" effect.
