Position: Retail Nursery Manager
Scherz Landscape and Nursery is a retail nursery/garden center and landscape company with an emphasis on quality plant material and service. We are a small family owned business focused on quality products and customer service. We are looking for an individual with a positive, upbeat attitude who wants to take an active part in helping grow the business. Interested candidates should have 5 years of previous garden center management or industry related experience and a bachelor’s degree, have a strong working knowledge of ornamental plants and possess a diverse set of construction and mechanical skills. Responsibilities of the Garden Center Manager This is a hands on position and requires working outdoors in all kinds of weather and some heavy lifting. Responsibilities include directing day to day operations and activities of the retail division for the company. Duties include plant maintenance, maintaining sales yard and creating updated displays, coordinating deliveries of goods to customers and delivery receiving from suppliers, employee scheduling, ordering plant material and hard goods for nursery and landscape departments, and develop marketing plans and determine weekly specials and sales. The ability to interact with both retail customers and vendors on a regular basis is a must. Requires weekend flexibility and a valid Texas driver’s license. Compensation based on experience.
