      Make sure you ALL plugs in that part of the house, they use the plugs to feed the circuit to the switches and the switches back to the plugs. Also make sure you check both plugs on the device, not questing your judgement but that step gets missed a lot.

        I had something similar happen at my house. I had a wire in one of my switches that had come loose. Didn't figure it out until I started pulling the plugs and switches out.
